Topping-out the John Hope Gateway
Richard Lochhead, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment, officiated at the topping-out ceremony of the John Hope Gateway Visitor Centre on Thursday 21 May.
Mr Lochhead said: "It is wonderful to see the John Hope Gateway Visitor Centre so close to completion." The Gateway will open to the public later this summer.

Logan's own rhodo cultivars surprise and delight
Logan Botanic Garden in Dumfries & Galloway has named two new, entirely home-grown rhododendron cultivars. Rhododendron edgeworthii 'Logan Delight' and 'Logan Surprise', both recently registered with the Royal Horticultural Society, are the products of hand-pollination by staff in the 1980s.

Kids' holiday club at the Botanics
13 to 17 July
Keeping the kids entertained during the summer holidays is every parent's challenge! The Garden Gnome Club at the Botanics is just the ticket. Suitable for children from 8 to 12 years, it offers a week of fun and creative activities inspired by nature, including games, crafts, art, drama, storytelling and adventure.

Benmore Open Day

Enjoy a summer's outing to Benmore, with free entry to the Garden all day. On offer is a craft fair, chainsaw carving, explorer trips, guided walks and The Celtic Tree Walk - a presentation by The Walking Theatre Company, sponsored by the National Lottery Fund. Outdoor exhibitions at Logan
Until 31 August
Visitors to Logan this summer will find added interest in this spectacular garden. A Day in the Forest is an outdoor exhibition of large-format photos featuring woodland plants, animals and activities, compiled by Forestry Commission Scotland.
In addition, the Walled Garden is host to a diverse collection of sculptures by local artists. Media used include wood, mosaic and modern industrial materials.
Early Summer Highlights at Logan

Come along for a tour around the Garden with the Curator and discover summer sensations in Scotland’s most exotic garden. You'll see spectacular displays of Crinodendron (pictured), Embothrium, Lobelia tupa and the early blooming half-hardy perennials kickstarting the summer flowering season.
